What you send us on purpose

Both forms on this site ask for a name, an email address, a phone number if you want to give one, the address of the property, which service you are asking about, and anything you type in the message box. The property address is required, because we cannot price a job without knowing where it is.

That goes to one place: an email to Colonel Zips. It is not stored in a database on this website, it is not added to a mailing list, and it is not passed to anyone else. We keep the email the way any business keeps its estimate requests, and we use it to quote your job and to get back to you.

Text messages, and who your number is not shared with

No mobile information will be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. Information sharing to subcontractors in support services, such as customer service, is permitted. All other use case categories exclude text messaging originator opt-in data and consent; this information will not be shared with any third parties.

If you tick the SMS box on a form, you are agreeing to receive transactional and informational text messages from us about your account, your service, and your appointments. We do not send marketing text messages.

Message frequency varies with the work you have booked. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to any message to opt out, or HELP for help. Opting out of texts does not affect anything else: we will still call and email you about your job.

Your phone number is used to reach you about your work and nothing else. It is not sold, rented, or passed to anyone for their own marketing.

The photo on the lighting preview

The lighting pages let you load a photo of your own house and trace your roofline so the page can draw lights on it. That photo is read by your own browser and stays there. It is not uploaded, and we never see it.

The one exception is the button that says send it with my request. If you press that, the picture with the lights drawn on it is attached to your estimate request and emailed to us, the same as anything else you type into the form. If you do not press it, nothing about your photo leaves your device.

Counting visits, without cookies

This site runs two page-view counters: Cloudflare Web Analytics and the analytics our web studio runs for the sites it builds. Both are cookieless. Neither one sets a cookie on your device, neither one follows you to other websites, and neither one builds a profile of you.

What they record is the sort of thing a visitor book records: which page was opened, roughly where in the world the request came from, and what kind of device it was. That is why this site has no cookie banner. There is nothing to consent to.

The instant quote on the cleaning pages

The free estimate popup on the cleaning side of this site is ResponsiBid, a third-party quoting tool Colonel Zips uses to price window and pressure washing work. When you open it you are filling in their form, and what you put in it reaches us through them and is covered by their privacy policy as well as this one.

There is no instant quote on the lighting pages, because lighting is priced after somebody measures the building.

Spam checks

Form submissions can be checked by Cloudflare Turnstile, which works out whether a request came from a person or a script. It does not identify you and it does not track you across sites.

Who hosts this and who sends the mail

The site is hosted on Cloudflare Pages, so Cloudflare handles the request before this site does. Estimate requests are delivered by Resend, an email sending service. Our mailbox is Google Workspace. Each of those companies can see the traffic or the message that passes through it, in the ordinary way a host, a mail service and a mailbox provider can.

Children

This site is for people arranging work on a property. It is not aimed at children and we do not knowingly collect anything from one.

Asking us to delete it

Email [email protected] or call and ask, and we will delete your estimate request and anything attached to it. There is no account to close and no password to reset, because this site does not have accounts.

Changes to this page

If what this site collects changes, this page changes in the same update. The date at the top is when it was last true.
